Best MPVs with a CNG Option in India (2026): Mileage, Prices and Seats
Three MPVs in India come with a factory CNG kit. The Maruti XL6 lists the highest CNG mileage of the three, 26.32 km/kg, and is the only one with captain seats.
Three MPVs are sold in India with a factory-fitted CNG kit and a published CNG price: the Maruti XL6, the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Rumion. Of the three, the Maruti XL6 Zeta CNG lists the highest CNG fuel efficiency, 26.32 km/kg on Maruti's NEXA price page, and it is the only one with second-row captain seats. The Ertiga and the Rumion are both certified at 26.11 km/kg, and both seat seven.
All three use the same size of engine, a 1.5-litre petrol unit that makes 64.6 kW in CNG mode, and all three carry a 60-litre (water equivalent) CNG tank with a manual gearbox. The main differences covered here are the published CNG fuel efficiency, seat layout and price, and equipment also varies by model. Every figure here comes from the manufacturer's own brochure, price page, specification page or model page.
Every MPV with a factory CNG price in India
| Model | CNG variant | Seats | Ex-showroom price | CNG fuel efficiency | Basis of the figure |

| Toyota Rumion | S MT CNG | 7 | ₹11.69 lakh | 26.11 km/kg | Toyota brochure, certified |
Prices are for the cheapest CNG variant. All three CNG variants have a 5-speed manual gearbox. None is offered with CNG and an automatic.
Best CNG MPV for each need
| If you want | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The highest CNG fuel efficiency | Maruti XL6 Zeta CNG | 26.32 km/kg on Maruti's price page, against 26.11 km/kg for the other two |
| Captain seats in the second row | Maruti XL6 Zeta CNG | The only CNG MPV here with second-row captain seats, with one-touch recline and slide |
The Maruti Ertiga CNG and the Toyota Rumion CNG are the seven-seat alternatives. Both are certified at 26.11 km/kg.
How we picked
- It has to be an MPV. Maruti describes the Eeco as a van, with 5- and 6-seat versions, so it is not on this list.
- CNG has to be fitted at the factory, as its own variant with its own ex-showroom price. Kits fitted after purchase are covered separately below.
- It has to be on sale with a published CNG price. Kia's specification pages for the Carens and the Carens Clavis list a 1.5-litre CNG engine with a 6-speed manual, but Kia's model pages list only petrol and diesel engines and show no separate CNG price, so neither Kia is in the table.
We checked each car against its manufacturer's brochure and price or model page on 13 September 2026. The cars below are in order of listed CNG fuel efficiency. The Ertiga and the Rumion tie, and they follow in alphabetical order of maker.
1. Maruti XL6 CNG

The Zeta CNG is the only trim here with second-row captain chairs, sold through Maruti's NEXA network. Credit: Auto Forum India.
Specifications
Price: ₹12.61 lakh (Zeta CNG)
Engine: 1.5-litre K15C petrol with factory S-CNG, 64.6 kW and 121.5 Nm in CNG mode
Fuel efficiency: 26.32 km/kg (Maruti NEXA price page)
Gearbox: 5-speed manual
Seats: 6, with second-row captain seats
CNG tank: 60 litres (water equivalent), plus a 45-litre petrol tank
Safety: 6 airbags as standard, ESP with hill hold assist
Best for: the highest CNG fuel efficiency, and second-row captain seats
The XL6 Zeta CNG lists 26.32 km/kg on Maruti's NEXA price page, the highest CNG figure of any MPV here. It is also the only CNG MPV here with second-row captain seats, which Maruti fits with one-touch recline and slide on every grade, the Zeta CNG included. Maruti's price page lists walk-in slide and recline for the captain seats, and the third row splits 50:50, reclines and folds flat. The Zeta CNG gets cruise control, AC vents for the second row, a third-row AC with stage control, and 60 W Type-C USB chargers in both rear rows. It has 6 airbags as standard. Maruti sells it through its NEXA showrooms.
The trade-off
It seats six, not seven. Maruti's XL6 brochure prints 26.23 km/kg for the CNG version. The price page's 26.32 km/kg is the figure used here, and both are above the 26.11 km/kg of the other two.
2. Maruti Ertiga CNG

Every petrol Ertiga gets the S-CNG kit on the VXI and ZXI grades. Credit: Auto Forum India.
Specifications
Price: ₹10.94 lakh (VXI CNG) to ₹12.00 lakh (ZXI CNG)
Engine: 1.5-litre K15C petrol with factory S-CNG, 64.6 kW (87.8 PS) and 121.5 Nm in CNG mode
Fuel efficiency: 26.11 km/kg (certified)
Gearbox: 5-speed manual
Seats: 7
CNG tank: 60 litres (water equivalent), plus a 45-litre petrol tank
Safety: 6 airbags, ESP with hill hold control
Sold through: Maruti ARENA showrooms
The Ertiga VXI CNG costs ₹10.94 lakh. Maruti sells the CNG kit on two grades, the VXI and the ZXI, and labels it S-CNG. Maruti's brochure certifies the CNG Ertiga at 26.11 km/kg. The seating is the same as the petrol Ertiga's. The second row is a 60:40 split seat with one-touch recline and slide. The third row splits 50:50, reclines and folds flat.
The trade-off
Its certified 26.11 km/kg is below the XL6's 26.32 km/kg, and the second row is a split seat, not captain seats. The CNG Ertiga comes only with a manual gearbox. The Smart Hybrid hardware that the petrol Ertiga lists, idle start-stop, brake energy regeneration and torque assist, is not listed for the CNG versions.
3. Toyota Rumion CNG

Toyota offers CNG on the single S MT grade, sold through its own dealer network. Credit: Auto Forum India.
Specifications
Price: ₹11.69 lakh (S MT CNG)
Engine: 1.5-litre K-series petrol with CNG, 64.6 kW and 121.5 Nm in CNG mode
Fuel efficiency: 26.11 km/kg (certified)
Gearbox: 5-speed manual
Seats: 7
CNG tank: 60 litres (water equivalent), plus a 45-litre petrol tank
Safety: dual front, front side and curtain airbags
Sold through: Toyota dealers
Toyota sells the Rumion with CNG on one grade, the S MT CNG at ₹11.69 lakh. Toyota's brochure lists the same certified 26.11 km/kg as the CNG Ertiga, the same 64.6 kW and 121.5 Nm in CNG mode, and the same 60-litre CNG tank. It seats seven, and it gets dual front, front side and curtain airbags on every grade, the CNG grade included. The second row is a 60:40 split seat with one-touch recline and slide, and the third row splits 50:50 with a recline function. Toyota sells it through its own dealer network, which its brochure says spans 435 cities.
The trade-off
Its certified 26.11 km/kg is below the XL6's 26.32 km/kg. Toyota offers CNG on one grade only. The idle start-stop, brake energy regeneration and torque assist listed on the Rumion's Neo Drive grades are not listed for the CNG grade.
CNG kits fitted after purchase
Renault offers a government-approved CNG kit for the Triber, a seven-seater, fitted through the Renault network on manual versions. The kit carries a 3-year or 100,000 km warranty, according to Renault's Triber brochure. Renault sells the kit as a fitment option, not as a CNG variant with its own ex-showroom price, so the Triber is not ranked here.
Conclusion
The Maruti XL6 Zeta CNG is the pick if you want the most distance from a kilogram of CNG in an MPV: it lists 26.32 km/kg, the highest figure of the three. It is also the only one with second-row captain seats, and its CNG grade gets a third-row AC with stage control. If you need a seventh seat, the Maruti Ertiga CNG and the Toyota Rumion CNG both seat seven and are certified at 26.11 km/kg.
