Best CNG Hatchbacks Under 15 Lakh in India (2026): Certified km/kg, CNG Automatics and Prices
The Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG carries the highest certified figure at 35.34 km/kg with the AGS automatic and 35.07 km/kg with the manual, ahead of the Baleno AGS at 34.47 km/kg. Six hatchbacks in India sell a factory-fitted CNG variant under ₹15 lakh, and every one of them actually starts under ₹11 lakh: the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Tata Tiago, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Altroz. The Swift CNG with the AGS automatic carries the highest certified figure at 35.34 km/kg. The Tata Tiago is the cheapest at ₹5.79 lakh, and the Tata Altroz is the only one here with a five-star Bharat NCAP rating.
CNG suits a hatchback well. The cars are light and efficient to begin with, and the running cost per kilometre is far below petrol. What separates them is the tank layout and how much boot it eats, whether an automatic is offered at all, and how the safety record reads.
