Toyota's CNG strategy in India is built almost entirely on its badge-engineering partnership with Maruti Suzuki, channelled through Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM). Every factory-fitted CNG model in Toyota's Indian lineup is a rebadged Maruti product: the Glanza (based on the Baleno), the Urban Cruiser Taisor (based on the Fronx), the Urban Cruiser Hyryder (based on the Grand Vitara), and the Rumion (based on the Ertiga). This approach allows Toyota to offer CNG across hatchback, compact SUV, midsize SUV, and MPV segments without independent powertrain development, leveraging Maruti's well-established CNG engineering.

All Toyota CNG models use factory-fitted kits with single-cylinder underbody tanks. The Glanza and Taisor CNG use a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine with a 55-litre (water-equivalent) tank, while the Hyryder CNG uses a 1.5-litre engine with a claimed 26.6 km/kg efficiency and a 55-litre tank. The Rumion CNG shares the Ertiga's 1.5-litre engine and 60-litre tank setup. All CNG variants are paired exclusively with 5-speed manual gearboxes. The Taisor CNG is notable for being offered only on the base E trim, whereas its Maruti Fronx counterpart spans two trims.

Toyota positions its CNG models at a modest premium over their Maruti equivalents, targeting buyers who prefer the Toyota badge, dealer network, and after-sales assurance. The Hyryder CNG, priced from approximately Rs 13.38 lakh (claimed), is the most expensive factory-fitted CNG SUV in India as of mid-2026. Toyota has not announced independent CNG powertrain development in India; its roadmap remains tied to the Suzuki-Toyota alliance, with any future CNG expansion expected to follow new Maruti platform introductions.
