Tata claims an ARAI-certified figure of 26.99 km/kg for the Punch iCNG, which is among the highest in the sub-compact SUV segment. Autocar India's independent test returned 25.85 km/kg overall — 20.7 km/kg in city conditions and an impressive 31.0 km/kg on the highway — confirming that real-world numbers track closely to the ARAI claim. At a typical CNG pump price of ₹75–80/kg in major Indian cities, the per-kilometre running cost works out to roughly ₹2.5–3.0, compared to ₹6–7 on petrol at current prices.

The Punch CNG also retains a 37-litre petrol tank alongside the 43.2 kg CNG twin-cylinder setup, so range anxiety is effectively eliminated. The car auto-switches to petrol when CNG runs low, and a single advanced ECU manages the transition seamlessly. For a driver covering 2,000 km a month, the CNG variant can save ₹6,000–8,000 per month over the equivalent petrol model — meaning the price premium over the petrol variant is typically recovered within 18–24 months.
